Emirates took off to Mexico City, marking the first passenger flight of the airline to Mexico. Emirates flight EK255, departed at full capacity with more than 300 passengers, led a group of VIP guests and press at 03:30 on board. Ahmed Hatem Barghash Al Menhali, United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Mexico, and Francisca Elizabeth Méndez Escobar, Mexican Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, marked the importance of this modern gateway in the Americas.
Salem Obaidalla, senior vice president of Emirates ‘ business operations for the Americas, was also on board. Captain Abdelrazaq Alfahim, a UAE national, and captain Gabriel Noltenius Hahnel, a Mexican national, were in command of the first leg of the Mexico City flight.
The aircraft used for the inaugural flight was the newly refurbished two-class Boeing 777-200LR from Emirates. The flight will stop in Barcelona before proceeding to Mexico City.
