Turkish Airlines has announced the launch of flights to its second destination in Finland, Rovaniemi. Starting on 5 December, flights to Rovaniemi will be operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, three times a week. Turkish Airlines Board Member Orhan Birdal said during the inaugural flight ceremony: “Turkish Airlines is now pleased to add Rovaniemi to its flight network, Finland’s second destination after beginning its flights back in 1988 to the country’s capital city of Helsinki. We will operate three reciprocal flights to the northern lights of Rovaniemi, one of the most popular winter tourism destinations. As the first airline outside the European Union to have scheduled flights to this destination and the only airline to offer a business-class product on Rovaniemi flights, we invite our guests from all over the world to experience this special city through our extensive flight connectivity covering 317 cities in 126 countries.
The interaction between charged Sun particles and Earth’s magnetic field is the product of Polar Lights. It is called Northern Lights when this natural phenomenon occurs in the North Pole. Rovaniemi is considered one of the best places to witness the northern lights as it is located on the northern polar line. The versatility of its winter activities and its prime location for witnessing northern lights makes Rovaniemi one of the most popular winter tourism destinations while offering eco-friendly glass igloos and ice hotels to its guests from all over the world.
