As part of efforts to reinforce the country’s status as a global tourist destination, the UAE will introduce a new multi-entry visa scheme available for all nationalities for five years, a study said. A report said the new visa scheme was approved by the UAE Cabinet during the first meeting of the Cabinet during the Year of Preparation in 2020, chaired by His Highness Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler.
During the first quarter of 2020, the decision will be enforced, it said. “The year 2020 will be different because it’s the year we’re planning for the next 50 years, the year we’re modelling the emirates ‘ future,” Mohammed said.
During the meeting at the Abu Dhabi Presidential Palace, members of the Cabinet reviewed the UAE government’s accomplishments in 2019. The meeting took place in H.H.’s presence. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Lt. General Sheik Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and H.H. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheik Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The introduction of a visa waiver for Mexican citizens travelling to the UAE was another key decision made during the meeting. As part of efforts to enhance the role of the UAE regionally and globally, the decision would improve existing bilateral relations with other countries around the world by enhancing cooperation in the fields of tourism, agriculture and investment. The decision would open up new opportunities in tourism, investment and trade for UAE passport holders and encourage their travel between the two countries. The decision would promote the entry, departure, and movement of visa applications for citizens of both countries, the study said.
